Setup calca-Plus

In contrast to my other applications, calca-Plus can display two windows: “main” and optionally “info”.

Upon the initial launch of the app, a condensed form appears. Please fill it out from top to bottom, as after selecting the throttle, the “Default” values will be calculated and the display will switch to the complete form.

Important: As with calca-Elec and calca-Gas, when selecting the throttle stick, press “Proportional” to ensure that the values from -100 to +100 percent are displayed smoothly. (“Centr” is already set as default!)

The complete form appears. Now, fill it out and complete it again from top to bottom: Start with the mode set to “Normal,” add sensors if possible, include a safety and a report switch if desired. The report switch should be assigned to a momentary switch, tilt sensors are also acceptable, or unused trim buttons can be used.

If you want to try out the app in a “dry” run, you can select a switch for “Simulation” and assign a rotary potentiometer for “Raw Volt.” Configure this to be proportional from 0 to +100%, which also involves pressing the “Neutral” button once.

The battery switch can be used optionally if you’re using batteries with different capacities or C-Rates. Up to two different types are possible. The switch can be either a momentary or a two-way switch.

Select warnings that will provide announcements and alert sounds during operation. Based on the values entered here, the data on the main display will also be color-highlighted: green, orange, red (blue indicates turned off).

Next, complete the list of batteries. Battery 2 can be set to 0 when not in use. Battery 1 and 2 will be represented as Battery A and B on the display. The C-Rate corresponds to the specified continuous discharge rating. For example, if the C-Rate is listed as 30/50, set it to 30.

The C-rate is crucial for calculating the displayed voltage accurately, and thus, it should be entered as precisely as possible. If a significantly lower value is conservatively set here, the voltage warning might come too late or not at all. In parentheses, a corrected value will be presented after the flight, which you can be manually updated in the settings.

Similar to calca-Elec, the consumption in amperes is set for five different throttle positions. After the initial setup of the app, default values matching Battery 1 will be presented. These values should be adjusted, either manually or using the learning program.
