Operating calca-Plus

Warnings

They are displayed in color and also reported audibly. The first notification occurs at 50% to confirm that the app is functioning and that the majority of the flight has been completed.

Depending on the set thresholds, the pre-warning (triple-click) sounds about 5% before reaching a main warning. At approximately the same time, the corresponding value gets an orange background.

When the main warning threshold is reached, the background turns red, and either a “cuckoo” sound (for voltage) or a gong sound (for capacity) is followed by an announcement of the value. At any time, the smoothed voltage value can be announced using the dedicated switch.

Experiences

Depending on whether I’ve measured or learned the consumption values, for the first flight, I set around 3.8 volts and 30% remaining capacity. Later on, I mainly fly based on voltage but maintain a minimum remaining capacity as a safety margin. With voltage, I go down to about 3.75 volts, and I’ve experimented with flights down to 3.72 volts as well. Always remember that the measured voltage immediately after the flight might be around 3.65 volts, but it recovers after a few hours, allowing the battery to be stored. However, I make it a habit to check the individual cells at home and top them off if necessary. This is especially important for older batteries, as individual cells can drift apart over time.
