Details calca-Elec(-Gas)

Throttle Stick

Be sure to set it to “Proportional!”

Aircraft Type (for IC engines)

“Gas” for gasoline engines, “JetCat” or “Frank” for jets. The only difference is the starting sequence. For JetCat, the calculation begins after one full throttle-idle cycle, while for Frank, it starts after two full throttle-idle cycles.

Capacity

In milliampere-hours (mAh) or milliliters (mL).

Throttle 100-0%

Values in amperes (A) or milliliters (mL). For the intermediate values 25-50-75%, you can use “-1,” and the program will interpolate these steps based on the neighboring values. For electric setups, it is not recommended to use this approach. At the very least, 50% should be entered manually, but ideally, all values should be specified. Caution! Consumption values are given in different formats in the manuals and may need to be converted accordingly.

Pre-Warning

Set the value for the discrete 3-click tone.

Warning

It will trigger a gong sound followed by the announcement “Bingo”!

If warnings are set to “0,” standard percentage announcements will be triggered (50%, 25%, 20%, 15%, 10%).

Safety Switch

As long as the safety switch is on, calca assumes that for electric models, the current consumption corresponds to the set value of 0%, while for IC engines, the engine is off, and the consumption is zero. For jet engines, calca-Gas will begin calculating after the safety switch is turned off and the start sequence has been performed (throttle full and back to idle). If this is not desired, the “Gas” option can be selected for jets.

Reset Switch

It is recommended to use a spring-loaded switch, possibly within a logical switch. For IC engines, a long reset “Long Reset” can be performed by holding the switch for a longer duration, which recalls the last stored percentage value. This makes sense when refueling has not been done in between flights. It takes the value from the last transmitter shutdown or model change.

Reset Reminder

A switch can be set to remind the pilot to perform a reset of the fuel gauge after the engine has been started (recommended for gasoline engines). I use the elevator (proportional!), but a telemetry channel for RPM could also be used. The warning “Check Reset” will only sound if no manual reset was performed after the engine start.

Capacity Announcement

It is recommended to use a spring-loaded switch or an acceleration sensor, e.g., “GXL” for DS transmitters.

Multiple Flights?

If this switch is activated, the display will not automatically reset to 100%. A short reset must be performed after refueling or recharging the batteries.

Alternative Battery (or Fuel Tank)

A second battery or fuel tank can be selected.

Switch Battery 2

A configured switch for the second battery or fuel tank. Here, too, a combination of two switches through a logical switch is recommended.
